Homemade Cough Syrup Recipe: Natural Ingredients for Instant Cough Relief

This simple DIY cough remedy helps treat most breathing ailments.

  • 1/4 red onion
  • 1/4 cup fresh aloe vera
  • 2 TBSP honey
  • 1 cup water - or berry juice (if substituting honey)
  • 3 TBSP fresh lemon juice (optional)
  • 1/4 inch piece of peeled ginger (optional)


  • Place all the ingredients in a blender and process until smooth 
  • Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 3 days 


For best results, take 3 tablespoons, 3 times a day, for 5 days or until cough stops completely.
